Water Quality research in the Environmental Quality division focuses on understanding the sources, transport, transformation, and impacts of contaminants in natural and engineered systems. Faculty in this area study the fate of chemical, biological, and emerging contaminants in water, soil, and related environments, with the goal of protecting human health and ecosystem function. Research spans contaminant detection and characterization, treatment technologies, risk assessment, water and wastewater quality, and the development of sustainable strategies for pollution prevention and remediation. This work supports improved decision-making for environmental management, regulatory compliance, and the long-term stewardship of water resources.
