Environmental Quality Laboratory (EQL)

The Environmental Quality Laboratory at the Utah Water Research Laboratory provides advanced analytical capabilities for testing water, wastewater, soil, and sediment to support research, environmental quality testing, and environmental monitoring. Equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for analyzing trace metals, nutrients, organics, and microbial constituents, the lab enables detailed assessments of water quality, contaminant behavior, and treatment performance.

We’re Open for Collaboration

The EQL is now available to the USU community and external partners. Researchers, government agencies, and private consultants can access our facilities for sample analytics. Please review our current policy and rates document for project planning and submission guidelines.

What We Do

The Environmental Quality Laboratory (EQL) provides high-precision analytical data for complex environmental research.

We maintain a standardized suite of industry-leading instrumentation, ensuring that project partners have access to reliable equipment and consistent methodology for diverse environmental datasets.

The Science Behind the Service

The EQL functions as the technical foundation for ongoing environmental engineering initiatives. We bridge the gap between theoretical research and empirical data through rigorous testing protocols.

This integration ensures that all sample processing is informed by a deep understanding of environmental chemistry and decades of institutional expertise in water quality research and laboratory management.
