Bioremediation & Sustainability research in the Environmental Quality division focuses on using biological, chemical, and engineered processes to reduce contamination and improve environmental performance in water, soil, and waste systems. Faculty in this area study how natural and designed treatment approaches can remove pollutants, restore impacted environments, and support more sustainable management of resources. Research includes remediation of contaminated sites, biologically mediated treatment processes, waste minimization, resource recovery, and strategies that promote long-term environmental resilience. This work advances practical solutions that protect human health, strengthen ecosystem integrity, and support sustainable engineering practice.
