International Students

We're here to support our international students in their transition to Logan. Please reach out to UWRL administration if you need additional resources, guidance, or support.

USU Resources

International Students will work closely with the Office of Graduate Studies and the Office of Global Engagement. Please be on the lookout for emails from them, as they will be your primary sources of information, instruction, and assistance.

Work Permits & Visa

  • All international students must have a current visa and work permit from the Office of International Student and Scholars (OISS), as well as an application receipt for a social security number from the Social Security Administration before they can begin work at the UWRL. Work permits must be renewed through the OISS.
  • Students must bring your renewed or changed passport or visa to the business services offices AND to the HR Office to update your I-9.
  • Once they receive your social security card, you must bring it into the business services offices immediately.

New Hire Paperwork at the UWRL

Upon arrival in Logan, international students should meet with Andrea Carroll to complete employment paperwork for the UWRL. Andrea will provide students the paperwork needed for the Social Security Office.

Once the student receives their SS card, they will need to take it back to Andrea to complete their paperwork.

International Community & Groups

We have a large community of international students at USU and the UWRL. Your adviser should able to connect you with other international students that can offer valuable advice and help. Please reach out to your adviser if you have not been connected with a fellow student, or feel free to reach out to any of our students in our student directory.

There are also many international student groups that we encourage getting involved with on campus.

Faculty Resources for International Students

The UWRL has created a flow-chart to help with the onboarding of international students for faculty members. Please contact a member of the communications team to access this document.
