Irrigation

Water

Irrigation Engineering is the integration of plant, soil, and climate science with engineering knowledge for the management of irrigation water. Irrigation engineering includes an understanding of vegetation development and factors limiting growth, creation and use of sensors and models to monitor water and energy processes, and design and assessment of irrigation systems, water conveyance infrastructure, and water distribution schemes. Current research areas include the application of unmanned aerial vehicles in irrigated lands (agriculture, urban areas) and precision agriculture, development of sensing systems for yield and water consumption, irrigation system performance, water marketing, and training and knowledge transfer.
