Logan River Observatory Virtual Tour
June 2025 -- As part of its 60th anniversary celebration, the Utah Water Research Laboratory (UWRL) at Utah State University has released a new virtual tour video that shines a spotlight on the Logan River Observatory — a unique outdoor laboratory that plays a vital role in local and regional water research.
The new virtual tour gives audiences an inside look at how sensors and instruments along the river gather crucial information that supports water management, ecosystem protection, and flood forecasting. In the video, LRO researchers explain how data from the observatory is used to address local water challenges — from monitoring snowmelt runoff to studying the impacts of drought and land use on river health. By making this research visible and accessible, the observatory helps bridge the gap between science and the community — as well as providing key insights for statewide water issues.
