AggieAir Research Capabilities Highlighted Through Dr. Kelly Kopp Collaboration

January 12, 2026

AggieAir, a service center within the Utah Water Research Laboratory at Utah State University, was recently highlighted for its advanced uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) capabilities through its collaboration with Kelly Kopp’s research. The video showcases AggieAir conducting flights over small research plots in Logan using a AgEagle Altum-PT sensor, which captures seven spectral bands to assess vegetation condition and health at a fine spatial scale.

The collaboration demonstrates AggieAir’s ability to tailor aerial data collection to specific research needs, providing high-resolution multispectral imagery that supports detailed environmental analysis. With applications ranging from vegetation monitoring to broader water-related research challenges, AggieAir’s flexible platforms and technical expertise continue to expand the role of aerial remote sensing in applied research across Utah and beyond.
