Research Assistant: Computer Engineering

This week’s AggieAir employee spotlight is Ethan Payne, a computer engineering student at Utah State University.  Ethan Payne has been with AggieAir since August of 2017, and during his time here he’s helped us improve the imagery pipeline with improved processing via the University of Utah Center for High Performance Computing.

Ethan also helps us on special projects, like TX2 Deep Learning, as well as being our resident ARM64 specialist. Ethan said, “The most important thing I've learned at AggieAir is probably reverse-engineering code that was written before me, when whoever wrote it is gone & didn't leave documentation. It's taught me just how important documentation really is”.

Ethan said his favorite part of working with AggieAir is having the opportunity to work with the newest technologies in the field, such as the TX2 board he’s working on, which is the same chip used in the Nintendo Switch.

When he’s not working at USU, Ethan runs the Free Software & Linux Club, and is also involved in the USU Chess Club.

Thanks for all you do for AggieAir Ethan!
