Graduate Student, Caleb Buahin, Receives Multiple Awards

UWRL graduate student Caleb Buahin has won a number of prestigious awards recently based on his outstanding academic performance and accomplishments.

Caleb won a major award at the 8th International Congress on Environmental Modeling & Software, being named one of the best student paper awards at the event held in Toulouse, France July 10-14.

The College of Engineering selected Caleb as one of three College of Engineering Graduate Scholars for 2016. Scholars receive a cash scholarship and travel assistance to attend a scholarly conference to present research. Caleb was honored at the College of Engineering Research Awards Ceremony on April 14, 2016.

The School of Graduate Studies at USU also awarded Caleb a Martin Luther King Fellowship for the 2016-17 school year, which includes tuition and a cash scholarship. Only two students at USU receive this fellowship each year. Fellows are nominated by faculty, and final selection is made by the dean of the School of Graduate Studies.

Caleb is a Ph.D. student investigating technical approaches for coupling models and/or model components to form one or more integrated models that can more holistically represent western water systems such as those along Utah’s Wasatch Front.
