REGIONAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES The UCWRR has been involved in regional collaboration through the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) and Idaho State University to develop an information base and a scientific modeling system that can aid collaborative decision-making on water quantity and quality management. The tools developed are to be used to accommodate land and water management scenarios and represent their consequences on the physical system as well as economics and social acceptability. Nationally, the UCWRR is involved in ground water and vadose zone remediation activities at the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) sites. Remediation technologies being evaluated include bioremediation, phytoremediation, and natural attenuation. The UCWRR is actively collaborating with colleagues in over twelve countries, including Australia, the Middle East, Russia, and The Netherlands on topics including dam safety risk management, water management, industrial residue management, and sediment treatment and management.
